A three day Workshop on “Machine Learning Using Python” was organized by department of Computer Science and Engineering, HKES’s SLN College of Engineering, Raichur from 28/03/2019 to 30/03/2019 in association with ParvaM Consul-Tech Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru and with support of Management, HKE Society, Kalaburagi.

The department of Computer Science and Engineering took this initiative to organize this workshop with a vision to enable the students to grow multi-dimensionally and achieve their goals. The objective of this workshop was to ensure that the students don’t confine themselves to four walls of a classroom and to a fixed curriculum prescribed by the university. It inspires them to think and apply the knowledge attained inside the classroom and learn extensively.

We had 81 student registrations. Among that, 59 students were from SLNCE and 22 from nearby colleges (11 students from GEC and 11 students from NIT). We got a very fruitful result at the end of the workshop.

Entire team of CSE, SLNCE wholeheartedly thank to our Management, our Principal, Advisory members and HoD’s of various departments for their support extended in carrying out this workshop. We look forward for your esteemed support in organising many more such workshops, symposiums, FDP’s & events.   

Here is a brief report about the workshop.

Day-1 (28-03-2019): 

The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Naveen M, Managing Director, ParvaM Consul-Tech Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, our beloved Principal Dr. R. Basavaraja and Mrs. Sumangala Itagi, Convenor – workshop. 

The Chief Guest Mr. Naveen M shared his idea about the challenges currently the IT industry is facing. Mrs. Sumangala Itagi, Convenor and Incharge-HoD welcomed all through her speech.  Dr. R. Basawaraja in his presidential remarks congratulated the organizers, team ParvaM and student delegates for attending this workshop to make meet our student’s industry ready.

Keynote address:

Mr. Mohit Santosh, CTO, ParvaM Consul-Tech Pvt. Ltd. Bengaluru delivered the keynote address. His key focus was on basics of Machine Learning (ML) and its importance in the present scenario.

Mr. Mahesh, Mr. Mohit Santosh and Mr. Waheed from ParvaM team gave the insight on ML and Python. They mainly focused on installation of python and its basics concepts. This was completely a hands-on session were students executed simple exercise programs.  At the end of the day they made our students to understand: installation procedure of python software, how to write python program, Importance of using python libraries for concepts of ML.

Day-2 (29-03-2019):

Mr. Mubeen, Mr. Waheed and Mr. Mohit Santosh from ParvaM team demonstrated different types of learning. The experts started with the concepts of supervised learning with an example algorithm then they moved on to the concepts of Linear regression.

Day-3 (30-03-2019):

Mr. Waheed and Mr. Mohit Santosh from ParvaM team demonstrated different types of learning. The experts continued with another algorithm of supervised learning and then to the concepts of unsupervised learning by taking an example algorithm. They also gave an insight on K-Means and Naïve bayes algorithm. 

Valedictory report:

The Chief Guest for the function was Mr. Naveen M, Mrs. Sumangala Itagi, Convenor and Incharge-HoD and Mrs. Renuka Devi, Co-Convenor of workshop along with the team of ParvaM Shared the diaz. Some of the student participants shared their feedback about the workshop. Overall the response for the workshop was fruitful. Mr. Suresh Patel, Coordinator of the workshop gave vote of thanks.
